Is Anyone Else… Confused?

I’m afraid that we have lost not only our trust in God, but also our better judgment."
It’s getting close to that time of year again… The leaves are beginning to turn, the light is fading a little earlier in the day, and the feeling of fall is slowly beginning to fill the air! Hunters around the nation are getting ready to go after their preferred game! Football is in full swing! Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming! What an exciting time to be an American!

And what a controversial time to be an American… People are so… confused. I’ll borrow just a few of the definitions of that word from my dictionary: unable to think clearly; lacking order and thus difficult to understand; lacking clear distinction.
With all of the protest, hashtag wars, racial slurs, perceived injustices, mass shootings, blame gaming, name-calling, media bullying, twitter wars, and basic division in our nation, I’m getting confused. I can’t even remember which side I’m supposed to be on!

I have never seen a time in our nation where we were so totally unraveled…

The expression “United we stand, divided we fall” dates back to the 6th century B.C. and is accredited to Aesop. But the version I like best was used by Patrick Henry in 1799 "Let us trust God, and our better judgment to set us right hereafter. United we stand, divided we fall. Let us not split into factions which must destroy that union upon which our existence hangs."

I’m afraid that we have lost not only our trust in God, but also our better judgment! And we have certainly split into factions, which may very well destroy our Union… We have lost the ability to “think clearly”, our protest are “lacking order” and thus “difficult to understand”, nothing lacks “clear distinction” anymore, it just seems that everyone is jumping from one proverbial ‘band wagon’ to another. Everyone is crying, “I’m the victim” and as long as we allow the perception of the few to dictate the course of action for the masses… We’ll stay confused.  Let’s set aside our personal vendettas, our addiction to social media likes, and our clamoring for attention long enough to be truly thankful for the great nation that we are so privileged to live in. And lets all take just a moment… to do what my friend Garrett is doing in the photo. He’s a real man. And what he’s doing is the only thing that will correct the course of this nation. Real Men Pray.
