"I believe there is a hunger in our nation among masculine men,
to maintain their masculinity, and still love Jesus Christ, be Christian, and be accepted by others." |

I have a son who’s 12. He wants to grow up to be a man. A real man. He also wants to be a real Christian. However, when he juxtaposes mainstream society’s ideas of Christianity and masculinity, it would seem that one has no place for the other. Thus, the conundrum. Not to mention that today’s society has drastically changed the definition of “masculinity” in general.
The dictionary says it means “having qualities or appearance traditionally associated with men, especially strength and aggressiveness.” Aggressiveness??? Holy cow! It actually used the word “aggressiveness”. It also says “effeminate” is “having or showing characteristics regarded as typical of a woman; unmanly.” Unmanly… (I’m glad they used that word.) And since he wants to avoid being “unmanly” and wants to be “manly” and “Christian”, according to a lot of what I’ve read and heard the past few years, he’s got a huge problem! And as awesome a lady as his mother is, and as intelligent as his three sisters are, they don’t know anything about being a man. They know what a woman thinks a man should be. Which isn’t the same thing. (I’m flabbergasted to find books about how to be a man of God written by women… It’s like finding books on child rearing written by barren adults. Does anyone else see a problem with this?) |
However, if there’s one thing I do know about, it’s being a man. I was raised by a masculine man. He taught me how to fight, hunt, fish, shoot pool, play ball, skin my game, treat ladies, treat bullies… and be a Christian. And I am determined to teach my son the same thing. I think there are right and a wrong ways to turn the other cheek. And I don’t think the best way to handle a bully is by becoming a rat. I believe that I can be a very masculine man and still be the man God intended me to be. And I intend to teach my son those things, regardless of the adversity we face from popular society. I believe that God wants men to be masculine… Manly. And whenever God saved me, He didn’t take the man out of me.
I believe there is a hunger in our nation among masculine men, to maintain their masculinity, and still love Jesus Christ, be Christian, and be accepted by others.
I believe there is a real way to stand up for what is right, without being an idiot about it. I believe that young men in America really want to know how to be “real men” and not just the media’s definition of it. I want to help them learn how to bring chivalry back, without sacrificing manliness.
So, welcome to my site. This is a place where men can be ministered to without their masculinity being endangered… A site where we believe that God created us to be men… All man. And we can maintain manly values without sacrificing our Biblical Christian identity… Men were not created to be women… And as simple as that statement is, there is an undercurrent of “blending” in our society today that is determined to make men more effeminate, and women more masculine. I am just as determined to help masculine men maintain there identity by alerting them to the real meaning of scripture and God’s idea of what it is to be masculine… With the feminine “takeover” of the church in America, it seems that the masculine man has been put to the side at worst, and at best he’s told that he must shed any vestige of masculinity in order to be a real Christian… That is simply not true. God created us masculine and feminine for a reason. And He wants us to stay that way. So, stay tuned as we deal with the Masculinity Conundrum.
